6th Annual CU Pride Festival
The UP Center presents it’s
Sixth Annual CU Pride Festival September 19th-20th.
C-U Pride Fest 2015 is full of variety. On Saturday, People and Families will enjoy a large festival and kids area with groups selling pride swag, others spreading awareness of issues gender and sexual minorities face, and businesses spread information like Champaign-Urbana Public Health and local government. Great kids area sponsored by Chambanamoms with children's entertainment, bounce houses and carnival style games. Education workshops are from 12 noon to 3pm and include subjects like Family Law, Biblical Self Defense, Sexual Assault and Awareness, Nutrition and Health and Substance Abuse. These will be held at Hyatt Place and Big Grove Tavern. The parade is a big part of the event with a step off at 5PM in Downtown Champaign. Following the parade area bars and restaurants host evening activities like live bands and drag performances. Sunday's main event will be a Post-Pride Drag Brunch at V. Picasso featuring Leiloni Stars, Calexus Carrington, and Jade from Rupaul's Drag Race Season One!
All proceeds support the UP Center of Champaign County. The UP Centers mission is to be a multi-service agency, for youth and adults, to support and promote human care, education, and community-building activities directed at furthering the well-being and development of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, two spirit, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, pansexual, non-gendered, gender-nonconforming, and gender-fluid people and the ally community of Champaign County, in accordance with 501(c)(3) and 170(c) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, as now or hereafter amended.
