Wise UP is an educational series of workshops focusing on a variety of topics impacting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and ally community. Upcoming events include:

• The People in Your Neighborhood: A Workshop about the Resources and Events in CU Pertaining to the LGBTQA Community: Come hear about all the different events happening in your neighborhood. We will also hold a discussion on what programs and events you would like to see pertaining to the LGBTQA Community in CU. (Saturday, April 3, 2010)
• Adoption & Other Options for Having a Baby: Are you interested in starting a family, but don't know where to begin? Do you wonder what options and resources might be available in the Champaign-Urbana area? We'll have a panel of local community members who can speak to the breadth of legal and personal resources and opportunities there are for starting and creating your family. (Saturday, May 1, 2010)
• HIV & Its Impact on Our Community: A Panel Discussion About HIV in the LGBTQA Community of CU: What is it like to live with HIV/AIDS in 2010? As the number of those affected by this disease continues to rise in our community a better understanding is needed of what this disease means in the context of today. This panel discussion will address the realities of the medical, emotional, financial, and social aspects of living with an HIV diagnosis and the importance of continued prevention efforts. • Sex in CU: How to Have Fun and Be Safe: The threat of STDs and HIV can take some of the fun out of sex. This workshop will address how to keep yourself safe while maintaining an active sex life. Topics addressed will include: how to have safer hook-ups, reducing risk without the use of condoms, and how to maintain safety when in a relationship. (Saturday, July 10, 2010)
• Gender and Its Relationship to Sexuality: What's the Difference and Where Do I Fit on the Spectrum?: What does it mean to "walk like a man" or "be a lady?" We'll explore terms such as these and how gendering shapes our lives at young ages. (Saturday, August 7, 2010)
• It's Not Political, It's Legal: Know your rights! Come learn about laws impacting the LGBTQA community. We'll cover various topics, such as employment, public accommodation, housing, police protection, your rights in schools and beyond. (Saturday, September 4, 2010)
